Recently the term "theory" has become some sort of a fashion-term. It gives importance, the "theoretician" profits from the natural sciences, the domain where inductive theories have become famous, particularly in physics. In the humanities "theories" are problematic because they are not inductive, but to a great extent deductive which is contradictive to the concept of "theory". Being deductive, it can not be tested. Not surprisingly art historians use the concept "theory" quite amateurishly, e.g. "theory of architecture", a concept where nothing is clear. Aesthetics? A subjective guesswork! Style? Some sort of tinkering with forms. The following paper deals critically with "theories" in the humanities, and the second paper describes "anthropology of habitat and architecture" as an inductive approach to an "anthropological theory".
